In the future development of 5G networks, it is expected that through the deployment of more densely packed small base stations, wider bandwidth access, and edge computing technology, more environmentally friendly, high-speed, and low-latency mobile internet services will be provided. To achieve such goals, it requires not only the introduction of new communication technologies but also the proposal of specialized network deployment, dynamic resource management, and mobility management solutions tailored to the characteristics of different scenarios and application demands.

To meet these requirements, the O-RAN Alliance breaks down the closed telecommunications network system and defines a new open wireless access network architecture. This architecture allows key functional modules developed by third parties to be implemented on the O-RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) for network performance assessment, dynamic resource allocation, wireless indoor positioning, and other functions. It can also integrate with the Self-Organizing Network (SON) in the 3GPP standards, providing intelligent networking optimization configurations.

WiSDON Intelligent O-RAN Networking is an autonomous network control software solution managing the 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) based on the O-RAN architecture. The team integrates the Open Air Interface (OAI), a mobile communication system open-source platform developed by EUROCOM, and the open-source RIC released by the O-RAN Alliance. Using standard LTE core networks, base stations, User Equipment (UE), and open O-RAN interfaces, WiSDON RIC creates a system prototype with key patented technologies, including mobility load management, dynamic wireless resource management, and indoor positioning.

Through the implementation of the above key functional modules in networks with densely deployed small base stations, WiSDON RIC can reduce packet loss rates by 45%, improve overall network speed by 5.07 times, and enhance positioning accuracy by 22%. The open architecture allows this software solution to quickly integrate with white-label hardware and provide high-quality enterprise networks and comprehensive solutions through collaboration with local partners.
