光線插入法(RIM)是一種新穎的方法來控制電磁波傳播的路徑,此方法可以設計你所需要的起點終點以及入射和射出角度,並運用eikonal equation數值解出元件起點與終點之間的折射率分布,並使用超表面的週期特性,根據不同折射率要求,使用是當尺寸的貼片,然後根據RIM設計的梯度折射率(GRIN)分布,將貼片分布在接地介電基板。該設計技術透過模擬進行驗證,證明該透鏡依照規定的路徑彎曲且實現了所需的隱形面積和形狀。實際製造出的超表面隱形透鏡經過測量也與預期結果相同。
