    Li-Chun Wang (M'96 -- SM'06 -- F'11)} received the B.S. degree from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, R. O. C. in 1986, the M.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1988, and the Ms. Sci. and Ph. D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology , Atlanta, in 1995, and 1996, respectively, all in electrical engineering. From 1990 to 1992, he was with the Telecommunications Laboratories of the Ministry of Transportations and Communications in Taiwan(currently the Telecom Labs of Chunghwa Telecom Co.). In 1995, he was affiliated with Bell Northern Research of Northern Telecom, Inc., Richardson, TX. From 1996 to 2000, he was with AT&T Laboratories, where he was a Senior Technical Staff Member in the Wireless Communications Research Department. In August 2000, he became an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan and has been promoted to the full professor since 2005. His current research interests are in the areas of radio resource management and cross-layer optimization techniques for wireless systems, heterogeneous wireless network design, and cloud computing for mobile applications. He was elected to the IEEE Fellow grade in 2011 for his contributions in cellular architectures and radio resource management in wireless networks. Dr. Wang was a co-recipient(with Gordon L. Stuber and Chin-Tau Lea) of the 1997 IEEE Jack Neubauer Best Paper Award for his paper ``Architecture Design, Frequency Planning, and Performance Analysis for a Microcell/Macrocell Overlaying System," IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, vol. 46, no. 4, pp. 836-848, 1997. He has published over 150 journal and international conference papers. He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Trans. on Wireless Communications from 2001 to 2005, the Guest Editor of Special Issue on "Mobile Computing and Networking" for IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications in 2005 and on "Radio Resource Management and Protocol Engineering in Future IEEE Broadband Networks" for IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine in 2006. He is holding nine US patents.

    6G無線通訊網路被視為人工智慧與物聯網整合的新世代,藉由AI人工智慧使無線通訊技術能夠廣泛延伸至各種應用領域中,並實現行動裝置、小型基地台、載具等互相聯網之功能。本團隊針對未來6G無線通訊中的三個熱門議題:基於人工智慧之無線通訊訊號處理、無人機之空路通訊網路、與低延遲網路進行研究。
    未來6G無線通訊有別4G與5G行動通訊系統的網路中心架構,其需要靈活改變架構以支持各種通訊應用,並於動態環境中動態調整系統參數以達到最佳化之狀態,這些工作在傳統Model-based的通訊網路框架是難以實現的,也十分具有挑戰性。人工智慧將可有效率地解決這些問題,使通訊系統具有學習能力,能與環境互動學習以配置最佳的系統參數。尤其在無線資源管理(Radio Resource Management)、網路資源佈署(Resource Allocation)、移動管理(Mobility Management)等技術中能有顯著的效能提升。儘管機器學習於無線通訊領域中已經有成熟的發展,但是在不同通訊應用中,仍然還沒有針對無線通訊系統設計的優化模型被開發。因此,人工智慧於6G無線通訊是一具有價值與影響力的研究議題。
    另一方面,無人機通訊網路也是6G無線通訊中具潛力的研究議題之一,面對目前無人機的多種新興應用:空中巡檢、空中物流運送、空中飛行基地台等,為了滿足上述應用,無人機需要具備完善的通訊聯網功能,以即時向地面站卸載空拍與飛行數據。如何根據無人機通訊應用設計一套滿足高頻寬傳輸以及高可靠度的通訊網路系統也是個重要議題。此外利用AI來解決無人機網路能源管理、數據隱私、與飛行安全等問題也是重要且較少人深入研究的課題。最後,隨著物聯網技術的發展,車聯網、無人機聯網應用也十分備受矚目,為了實現這些需要數據傳輸低延遲與高可靠度之通訊網路架構,低延遲網路以及邊緣計算技術也是6G無線通訊中的熱門議題。

    AI for Industry 4.0

    隨著工業 4.0 的興起,未來的6G,也將智慧工廠納入重要的探討情境,近年來機器學習 (Machine Learning) 與深度學習 (Deep Learning) 演算法的快速演進, 以大量機台資料來訓練模型已經成為推行智慧製造的主流方案,其所想要達到的目的包括:(1) 實時監測生產品質 (2) 預測機台是否即將故障 (3) 降低生產成本。以台灣工業領域目前主流之一的工具機產業來說,機台內高速運轉的滾珠軸承 (Bearing) 及渦輪內的齒輪皆需二十四小時不斷運轉,為機台最容易損耗的零件之一,若是損壞後才進行維修,將對工廠造成巨大的損失,包含零件本身更換的成本、整體產線停擺而無法繼續生產新品的成本以及故障零件在未被汰換前生產不良品的成本。為了有效降低機台損壞造成的損失,工廠希望能夠做到提前預知保養(Prognostic and Health management),若要採用人工智慧技術建置預知保養模型,需要足夠的異常資料才能訓練出一個可靠的模型。但事實上,工廠中的異常資料是相當難取得的,首先要在機台上部屬大量的感測器與設置不斷接收感測器資料的工業電腦,而機台大部分的時間也是屬於正常的狀態,在運轉幾年後才會開始出現異常,因此要搜集到機台異常的資料是相當困難與耗時的。
    面對以上的問題,本團隊預計使用人工智慧技術中的Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)及Transfer Learning來進行異常資料的生成與模型domain的轉換,規劃研究的異常診斷框架如下圖。lcwang_2.jpg
    資料前處理模組:搜集的感測器資料會先進行資料前處理,包含將連續性的震動資料切窗格、進行傅立葉轉換到頻域等。
    • 資料生成模組:由於正常資料很多,異常資料不足,因此在資料生成的研究重點就會是如何運用眾多的健康資料透過GAN的技術生成異常的資料,包含各種不同種類的異常,這將會是個極大的研究挑戰。
    • 建置異常診斷模型:具有大量的異常資料後就可以進行異常診斷模型的建置,可採用Recurrent Neural Network (RNN)或是Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)的網路建模。
    • 模型轉換:前一步的模型通常是針對某一種機台的資料建置的,但是工廠裡有很多種很多台的工具機,若是要將工廠升級成人工智慧的智慧製造,不可能一台台機台建置模型,而同種類的機台運轉方式很類似,異常的錯誤狀況也有類似的特性,因此我們可利用Transfer Learning的技術來將建置好的模型進行轉換,大幅降低換一個機台,模型就要重新訓練的時間以及人力成本。

    AI for Health 4.0

    智慧醫療的概念是讓人們能夠更方便與快速地的維護與照護自己家人的健康,透過智慧終端設備和穿戴裝置來量測人們身體產生的生理數據和資訊,並透過人工智慧分析生理特徵辨識(Physiological characteristics Recognition)與行為特徵識別(Behavior characteristics identification ),以達到監測甚至是預測一個人的健康狀況進而給予預防性的醫療。未來健康照護 4.0 的時代,可以看到很多資通訊技術的機會,如下圖所示。

    以漢語(華語)為母語的人口為世界第一,佔比約14%( 約960,000,000人),但過去大多的腦波語言研究都基於英語來做相關分析,英語與華語在語音的機制是不一樣的,最明顯差異就是有四聲和輕聲的聲調,而英語卻沒有這些變化,且華語是一字一音,音的總數約為一千多個,但常用字卻有一萬多個,每個字都有其字意,構成的詞則是有千千萬萬個,也就是說華語用一千多個音,組成千變萬化的語言,華語語音主要是在處理「音」與「字」的問題,中文的語境及複雜度都比英文亂很多,因此,以華語為基礎之腦波研究是值得深入的課題。
    人工智慧以深度學習神經網路為架構,抓取資料間的特徵進行學習,可以找出人工無法發現之資料關聯,近年來語音辨識的聲學模型也發展出使用深度類神經網路(Deep Neural Network, DNN)技術取代傳統高斯混合模型(Gaussian Mixture Model, GMM),以獲得更好的效能。由此可見,發展深度學習技術來分析腦波與華語語音之間的關聯性並進行辨識可帶領腦波研究往前一大步。
    因此,本研究團隊在AI for Health 4.0的研究上將使用深度學習技術分析EEG及fEMG訊號,並結合過去的研究能量建立語音辨識模型,來達成華語語音的即時分析與辨識,做出一套基於非侵入式腦波之華語語音辨識系統,同時結合Transfer Learning的技術解決跨使用者得問題,腦機界面上使用分類器來解讀腦內活動,而分類器是藉由建立模型來連接腦波特徵與相對應的活動,然而,人腦因為個人不同的成長過程會有不同發展方式,每個人都有不盡相同的腦神經結構,相同的腦內活動可能會由不同的腦波特徵表現,因此,將分類器用在一個新來的使用者上時,其精準度會嚴重下降。本研究團隊規劃提出一個以資料轉移為基礎之轉移式學習框架,能夠基於無任務狀態下之腦波資料從資料庫中尋找適合作為訓練資料(Training Data),以達成轉移式學習,其研究成果可將基於某一個人開發的華語語音辨識系統擴展應用到更多的人身上,未來可開發成行動腦波語音辨識裝置,幫助到更多失語病患。
